ADULT: Wingspan up to 14mm.  The forewings of this dinky moth are whitish to ochreous with a fuscous clouding. The margins sport a series of black dots and there is a small black dot on the middle of the costa. The cilia is noticeably dark.  The hindwings are dark grey. BEHAVIOUR: Attracted to light. The larvae feed on Betula leaves. They pupate in a cocoon under a membrane on the leaf. HABITAT: Moorland, scrub and heathland and other areas where Birch trees abound. FLIGHT PERIOD: August to October and then after overwintering usually seen until early May. STATUS: A species with a scattered distribution but never seen in great numbers.
